Seeking What Has Already Been Found

A few years ago, I purchased an online Leadership Development course — even though I already had a Master’s in Organizational Leadership — because I liked the trainer and what she said resonated with me. It fired me up.

At the time, I was in a difficult place professionally, searching for work again and doubting who I was - doubting my True Nature.

Here’s the thing: I never completed the course. Why? Because deep down, I already knew what leadership was.

Instead of looking within, I was searching for validation outside myself. And I know I’m not alone in that. Most of us are taught to seek answers outside ourselves instead of trusting the wisdom already within us.

What I’ve come to believe is this: Leadership comes from within.

It grows from our connection to others. It’s recognizing when someone is struggling - helping them see possibility in the middle of difficulty, and encouraging them toward a better path forward.

When I sit in stillness and reflect on uncertainty — especially during seasons of unemployment or transition — I realize that what I continue to seek has already been found.

It rests within us.

It’s the peace we can find in stillness.

It’s the quiet knowing that no matter how many fastballs life throws at us, we can catch some, let others pass, and stop trying to prove that we can be everything to everyone.

And when you do drop the ball? Don't be afraid to pick it up, learn from it. Look for a leader that can show you how to make a better play next time.

So the next time you feel tempted to purchase a personal growth course, pause, breathe deeply, and remember: you already carry within you much of what you’ve been searching for all along.
