A Good Fit

Looking for employment that is a good fit for me involves many things. Pay that aligns with experience and education; a boss or supervisor that is supportive and encouraging; co-workers who, like family, look out after each other and the business. Work that provides a sense of shared purpose to the local community and positivity impacts our larger world community, an organization that acts as a partner to slow down and hopefully stop the destruction of our environment are all important elements to me.

It seems like a tall order or a grand vision. However, I know it’s possible. I’ve read about organizations where all of these elements are in place, such as Zappos. Tony Hsieh, the founder, and CEO started the free shipping and returns that Amazon has successfully used. He built within its corporate walls a sense of community with shared customer service goals. It wasn’t about meeting sales metrics; no one listened in on your calls to find something to write you up. Sadly, Tony Hsieh died this past November due to injuries received in a house fire.

So, it is possible, and I still believe.

I continue to ask myself, “What do you want to do? What work or industry do you connect with? What role would provide me with the opportunity to utilize my talents, skills, and experience? Make a list, do the research, and pick up the phone.

I don’t need a six-digit income to be happy. I don’t need much. Because happiness doesn’t come by making more money; it comes through knowing that the work I do, the life I live, the actions that I take supports the community - locally and globally. I believe. #motiv84gr8 #lifecoach #resumewriting #career #lookingforwork #mentalhealth #socialnetworking
